Discussion

Ciprian Patrascu Jul 13, 2005:
Dizziness versus vertigo - There are differences in Romanian as well. Ameţeală punctually indicates the symptom, which may pertain to peripherral neurological syndromes (like here), metabolic disorders, as well as a subjective, non-pathological sensatio

Dizziness versus vertigo - There are differences in Romanian as well. Vertigo (or the "localized" vertij) indicates the entire medical syndrome, occured in various disorders (as of the inner ear, etc)
Non-ProZ.com Jul 13, 2005:
Dizziness versus vertigo. This is an important question. "Dizziness" is a sensation of movement within the skull, or a general giddy feeling. "Vertigo" is a sensation that the surroundings are moving or that the patient's entire body is moving, especially rotating. (Dorland's Medical Dictionary (Engl>Engl)). In English medical practice the two are very different. In Romanian, does ameeal indicate both dizziness and vertigo?
Non-ProZ.com Jul 13, 2005:
Yes. Membrelor superioare (membru). Upper limbs (arms). My errors.
Ciprian Patrascu Jul 12, 2005:
The answer offered (i.e. "dizziness") is correct, but "membrelor superioare" from the context means "upper limbs", not "upper peritoneal membranes"..

agree eVerbum (X) : For "vertigo", we have the Romanian "vertij", with the same definition as in English given by my Romanian medical dictionary.

vertigo

Şi "dizziness" este acceptabil, dar termenul medical este "vertigo".
