"subtended" is a mathematical term
example of use (sorry I can't get into the document itself):

thanks for the query! How you translate "captación" will depend on what it refers to -- what is being done -- could you add that detail in the Discussion comments please?

thanks for posting the additional context! I take it that "captación" refers to the water taken temporarily from the river to go through the hydroelectric turbine. I think your use of catchment would be clear here.

: I agree with 'subtended area above the catchment point'. I found good references for each phrase in referring to basins, though none of them all together.

The basin has an area of 3,794 km2 having an average yearly rainfall of 1096.6 mm,
... upstream from the sample point.
Así lo entiendo.

subtended basin area upstream from the water abstraction point
This is somewhat of a remix of what has been suggested. Also basin/drainage/catchment area, but have seen "subtended basin area" in the reference below.
Captación (e.g. for drinking water) is translated as abstraction in the Water Framework Directive; see its use in the web reference from the UK Environment Agency.

Discussion
The basin has an area of 3,794 km2 havind an average yearly rainfall of 1096.6 mm, (could it be 3.794 km2? that is, less tha 4 km2.) extended upwards (or upstream) from the sample point.
I may be wrong, but I have a feeling this is an extremely roundabout way of saying something that's very simple in English.
