My latest translation job is for an estate agency/ real estate company. There's the European/US distinction right there ;-).
This gig is for the European market so although both terms are understood, the trend for "localisation" suggests we stick to "European English."
I'm having a lot of fun appraising the subtleties between the English English=European, "property" and the more USA "real estate".
Quite apart from that, let's look at the problem here. A fast translation would give something like
**Enter search criteria and the matching properties will be displayed.**
Now, nit-picker that I am :-) there's a quality here that I don't want the discerning user to "read". A dictionary definition would cover what concerns me, viz: *Propiedad (attribute), calidad particular o privativa.*
It looks as if we're saying that the "properties" of the search criteria will be invoked. No big deal you may say, but... just that wee bit intellectually/linguistically sloppy.
But what am I left with? Enter search criteria and the matching **buildings** will be displayed? I don't think so...
Anyone feeling inspired? :-)
Thanks

: 'items' would be appropriate for chattels, ie. tangible movable property NOT real property

Enter search criteria and the real state matches will be displayed
I believe you are looking for something apart from properties, the rest of the sentence is fine just a change in the order of "match"

Enter search criteria and available properties will be displayed.
I think the adjective "matching" is the culprit if I understand Asker's dilemma correctly!
4 hrs
Enter [your] search criteria to display matching real-estate listings
I think you coulds just use listings, or else real-estate or realty listings.
Something went wrong...
