Why discuss it? Sep 16, 2006

I have 4:

Juan-Ramón, 21.
Diego, 18.
Emilio, 5.
Valentina (A girl, at least!), 3.

All well.

Father, 50 on Septembre 19th, 4 days from now, and well too. They contributed to that, should I say.

Great to have children.

And trying making them, too.

Why not discuss it? Sep 16, 2006

I have 3:

Joel David, 33, who is father of Jordan David, 6, and Abigail Grace, 2.

Miriam Nohemí, 31

Jonathan Michael, 29

Two delightful daughters-in-law: Christina and Jo

And a wonderful husband, Jesús, 56.

And happy birthday, Juan Jacob! I beat you by 7 years and 1 day (I'll be 57 on the 18th). Muchísimas felicidades.

Two Sep 16, 2006

Ornella, 9
Federico, 7

And the wonderful nanny who used to babysit them when they were babies. Otherwise I would not be able to work. Different timetables, different activities and a mother who loves working at night.

It took me some time to get organized but I did it.

Maybe that is the point, how to work at home with kids? Not easy indeed!

Cheers,
Andrea

Next poll. Sep 16, 2006

How many grand-children do you have?

Noooo, not yet!

Well, grats to Jane, Sophia and Valeria.

I often ask myself:

"Can I imagine my life without them?"

Don't you?

For shure, they change everything. We live for them.

Work at home with kids. Sep 16, 2006

Hi, Andrea.
How do you manage it?
They are always around, touching keyboard, pushing me, asking questions, wanting to play, with their glass of hot milk too close... and then, they call the dog. Gee!
Any tip how to throw them away will be highly appreciated.
I'll shurely won't follow them!

Six granddaughters... Sep 16, 2006

Well, since you asked, I have seven children (only 1 at home), six granddaughters, and a grandchild on the way.

What more could a person want?

Hi Juan,

When they were younger, I completely avoided working during the day

Now, a simple GET LOST! (in English) works

And my dog knows how to open doors by himself!

I must have made myself very clear when I explained to them that they could not touch anything on my desk because they never ask me to use my PC neither touch anything

Until last month, without the nanny, I slept while they were at school. They go to school from 7.45 am to 3.00 pm.
I hired the school bus and got up only to receive them.
First thing they asked me was, "Are you working, mum?"
Fortunately I was. So they went to the bedroom either to do their homework or watch TV. On sunny or warm days, I send them to the garden and lock the door.
Ornella loves the household chores -she does not take after her mother, mind you- so she would prepare a wonderful five-o'clock tea for her brother, herself and me

After that, I still wonder why, they would start behaving like real siblings and I would start shouting...

That meant no more translating until they went to bed

As I said before, it takes some time but it is possible.

Andrea

Juan, you have painted the right picture. That's just what my little Martina (2) does all the time. Just now she's starting to understand that " when mom is busy... you better keep away...!!"

Mommy is working Sep 16, 2006

My little Thomas is just one year old, as I said before. So he does not understand if I tell him "Mommy is working".

I usually translate at night (as I am doing now) or when he takes naps. Thank God, I have a great husband who takes care of him after he comes from the office, when I have a rush job to do. Sometimes my mom takes care of my baby too.

It is not easy, but with some help you can do it!
