Follow-up on transcribing Adobe Flash Player videoclip Jan 6, 2013

Frank, you were so helpful and got me thinking along the right lines.

No indeed, Adobe clips cannot be saved as MP3, but what I did was play the Flash Player clip while simultaneously recording it onto Express Scribe (not the Pro version, the free one) using Microsoft Word recording. That is, I hit 'play' on the clip and 'record' on the Word recording mike. Yes, it was a little laborious; and if I had had a foot pedal to use to regulate speed and pausing (used to have one, a regular dictaphone, in the old days) it would have been ideal. I was able to transcribe to a Word document as I listened. So maybe a bit of a miracle after all.

But to save a lot of labor-intense trouble and time, Frank's original point is absolutely right, i.e., try from the get-go to obtain audio transcripts that are already transcribed and use the hardcopy for the translation. No more hassle.

Thanks again everyone.
