Can Altinbay Local time: 20:34 Japanese to English + ...

My computer has US Windows 2000 and enough extras to be able to read and write in Japanese. Things work quite well until I install a Japanese version software. Then, I get sqquares instead of characters in the meuns and messages. Is this inherent in my setup, do I have to invest in Japanese version of Windows, or is there something I have missed? For example, my Real Player is a Japanese version, and I can use it, but I can't read the menus or, worse, the messages.
Thanks.

NTLEA and AppLocale have been the go-to solutions for such languages. Locale Emulator seems to be the leader for newer systems.

I'm sure Can Altinbay is grateful, in heaven (or wherever she is) for this answer.

But if he did, the words "is", "wrong", "what", "you" and "with" come to mind. Although not in that order.

You need to stop derailing the topic. It's against forum rules.
