I'll tell you what. My English speaking friend did a translation a month or two ago and asked me to proofread. One of the things I suggested correcting was 'comprising of', which he objected to claiming he had been using it for ages meaning 'consisting of'. So, there we have it, though apparently incorrect, may be 'correct' since natives use it widely, especially on this side of the pond :)

Thank you. Things have changed on the other side of the Pond. I think this is a confusion with "consisting of." Comprising is a special word, not requiring "of":

I like comprising too. btw I have a native friend who always says "comprising of" claiming it sounds correct in Wales. I love all these varieties // They do use "comprising of" in the UK. See the references in the discussion
