@Barbara and @Taña These are science-based (very expensive) cosmetics. I had thought about both cleanses and heals, but neither seems to fit the full description of this section. It may be an impossible ask. Worth a try though, to see if someone comes up with a really smart answer. :-) Thanks!

Haven't Contributed To Cosmetics Experiments... ...on animals for 49 years at this point, ever since my late husband, after we enjoyed a breakfast of chocolate and churros in a Barcelona park, told me I didn't need make-up after I lamented the fact that I couldn't find the non-oily kind I used in the US anywhere in Spain. He thought I was beautiful, anyway. Prior to that moment, though, I have to admit I was complicit in such testing, by using such products; but young people were generally shielded from such information (and I think they still are, because they are definitely targeted by advertising to sell them such products). For the last 49 years, my skin has never felt cleaner, and the sun and fresh air, in moderation, (and since my pores aren't clogged up by cosmetics), do good things, even healing things, for it. Some of those products cause more problems than they're worth, things like acne, etc. What else would one expect with a product that, I found out during the intervening years, is often made with animal blood! I can't imagine why anyone would want to put such garbage on their face!

Which cosmetic product do you know that is produced and does not involve science and testing over and over? Specifically, there are seven categories of cosmetics and personal care products - oral care, skin care, sun care, hair care, decorative cosmetics, body care and perfumes. Today, we still, unfortunately, have many products which are tested on animals! Cry! Huh? If The Products Are Science-based... ... (the medical overtones seem obvious), then I think the idea of "healing" would be the most appropriate way of looking at the issue, even if the claim is more than a bit misleading on the company's part.

@ Barbara: I did not mean to imply that this description was "wild" (here is it pretty standard descriptions). @ Chris: Then, IYO, given the only context you've provided, i.e. Fortalece, Perfecciona, Sanea, Protege and then later, "confiere a la piel un aspecto saludable y libre de impurezas - Ayuda a mantener la microbiota cutánea en equilibrio. - Efecto aromaterapéutico e hidroterapéutico", what then are you looking for within the meaning of "sanea"? What specific product then is it, do you know? It is a facial cleanser, or what? The only things I can think of are "revitalizing", "nourishing", "rejuvenating" but none of those fall within the description of "sanea".

@Tobias "Perfects" is industry standard jargon (just Google "perfects the skin"). I've been working with this client for many years but they always come up with new ways to describe products that don't necessarily fit into a single definition. :-(

I don't agree that "it could be anything" in this case, based on my analysis below. And I don't think the register of the source text, which is a mere list of claimed benefits, seems all that "wild", anyway.

@ Barbara As you said before as well, anything is possible with cosmetic products and companies often use catch phrases and "wild" descriptions to sell products. It could be anything really! As per Liz' reference: "Gives the skin a healthy and impurity-free appearance ...", i.e. implies "clean".

Based on the asker's comments to liz's entry, which mentions what are claimed to be the therapeutic properties associated with the product in question, I think "heals" would be the most appropriate translation, thinking about the oft-used expression, "healing therapeutics".

Barbara makes a good point. In the cosmetic industry, in order to sell products, "wild" and unverified claims are often the hallmarks of many beauty products.

For example, for a facial cleanser:

The asker has not expanded on the specific product, only giving a generalized description "cosmetic product", of which there are thousands of brands and each brand names carries hundreds of different products. It would be nice to know the specific type of product!
