Spanish term

abono copiado

Spanish to English Art/Literary Idioms / Maxims / Sayings
This is a statement from an artist from the Colombian Amazon.

La comida y las plantas de la ciudad no se parecen a las de la selva, no son lo mismo, pero pueden alimentar. Si el abono es copiado y tiene químico le va a hacer mal. Por más que se intente, las cosas no se pueden copiar. Si uno copia las cosas, sea las plantas o los dibujos, pues le van a salir peor. Pero si se intenta tener respeto y se deja crecer el cambio de las cosas pues le va a salir bien.

It is clearly connected to his larger idea of copying, but I am not sure exactly what he is getting at
Thanks

Discussion

Lisa Rosengard Apr 12:
It's about the use of replicated or duplicated fertiliser in agriculture. The author is against the action of copying or replicating an original product or piece of work, since the duplication reduces the quality of the product. Instead he recommends the original product to be respected without duplication.

synthetic fertilizer

If you search for the frequency with which "artificial" and "synthetic" collocate with "fertilizer," the latter occurs more often. However, it is also common to see the modifiers "artificial" and "synthetic" used as synonyms in the same text. In the source text, the noun phrase could be transformed as follows: "If the fertilizer is synthesized and contains chemicals, it will be harmful."

neutral philgoddard : I'm glad you agree they're synonyms.

artificial fertiliser

I think this is the meaning - you can't copy nature.

neutral Adrian MM. : nature *can* be copied - it's called cloning. Check out Dolly the Sheep.

fabricated manure

More like manure being 'mimicked' or *cloned*, with the idea followed up: ....las cosas no se pueden copiar... things or ideas cannot simply be fabricated (plagiaris/zed).
Example sentence:

IATE: en farmyard manure COM farm manure COM farm yard manure COM livestock manure COM es estiércol de establo COM estiércol de granja COM abono de granja

Cloning is the process of generating a genetically identical copy of a cell or an organism. Cloning happens all the time in nature.
