Bio
Being bilingual and having studied in both educational systems has provided me the ability to translate from Spanish into English and vice versa with confidence and ease. This, in addition to having British and Spanish parents, has allowed me from a young age to build a solid grammatical foundation and acquire an extensive vocabulary in both languages. As a result, I offer native quality translations in English and Spanish.
In my opinion, there are two key requirements when it comes to delivering a high-quality translation: having a comprehensive command of both language pairs and having absorbed both cultures to the extent that you are able to interpret the original text and express the translated text as a native would. I have acquired both these qualities by teaching languages for 7 years and having lived in London, where I was born, and Spain for extended periods of time in different stages of my life.
I have been translating for 10 years - 4 as a freelancer - and thanks to my experience in teaching and knowledge of both the English and Spanish languages, I am also currently an examiner for Cambridge University in Spain.
I have a Master’s degree in Business and therefore specialise in Business, Law, Marketing, and Economics. During my career, I have also translated a large amount of Construction, Engineering, Technical, and Tourism related texts with success, and as a result, I have ongoing clients that work in these sectors. I also specialise in Oenology due to the fact that I live and have owned an English language school in Haro, the capital of Rioja wine. After learning the entire process from influential winemakers in the area while teaching them English, I designed and delivered several wine-related courses in English to worldwide renowned winemakers in La Rioja.
I am currently studying English Philology at the UNED (Spanish Open University), with First degree honours and High distinction marks in English and Spanish language, and French at the EOI (State-run Language School) out of interest.
With regard to my work, all past and present customers agree that I am a punctual, precise and professional translator. Proof of this is in the amount of satisfied ongoing customers I have and the positive comments posted on this profile, as well as the over 500,000 words I have translated in the past year.
I welcome the opportunity to work on large or small projects, so feel free to contact me should you be interested in my collaboration. As I have outlined above, I offer native quality translations and a professional service. Naturally, I expect a rate in accordance as well as a professional and enjoyable relationship. Therefore, I only consider serious offers at sensible rates, for I feel that the increasing and current practice of offering well below-market rates is damaging our profession.
