I am a native speaker of Chinese who has lived and worked in English speaking countries for over 13 years. I have 16 years of professional experience in architecture and urban development in China, Europe and Africa. I specialise in architecture, architectural history, arts and culture, art history, and literature.
I have worked with international agencies, including the World Bank and UNESCO, and in collaboration with local government agencies on urban regeneration and architecture preservation projects around the world. My experience related to translation includes the writing of project descriptions and appraisals, report writing, funding applications, and spontaneous translations for meetings and discussions held between Chinese and English-speaking parties.
I use my knowledge of architecture, the built environment and cultural heritage to help improve understanding and bridge the gap between cultures. This includes my research and writing, which has contributed to the publication of a number of seminal and internationally acclaimed books, including:
The Life of the British Home – An Architectural History (Wiley, 2011)
Modernism in China – Architectural Visions and Revolutions (Wiley, 2008)

Building Shanghai – The Story of China’s Gateway (Wiley, 2006)
